All about wedding contests

Using the same photo, i also took part in another contest that require us to caption the photo. It was organised by now defunct wedding.sg.

what i win, a yellow liner from skin food. I think the liner still sits in my makeup bag somewhere.

Since the beginning they say
we'll be together come what may
my love for you grows day by day
despite the obstacles that came our way
together we overcame all
dear i couldn't ask for more
through your eyes till the end of time
i'm yours and you'll be mine

By the way, i also took part in numerous wedding contests in the magazines but i have never never won anything. So maybe it is destined for me to work hard and pay for my own expenses. The way that is so for everyone else.

How to tone up when you are desperate?

Ok i've been regularly working out (2 times a week for the past 2 months).

What i hate most from my workout program is the crunches. I always marvel at the people beside me. Their strength and determination to do continuous set of crunches. That is like extremely painful.

After 4 weeks of easy going attitude, the first time i started to make more effort is the time when i went for my first fitting. I need to lose alot of weight. So many of the gowns feel so tiny. OMG!

Despite all my efforts, without cutting down my diet, the progress has been slow and tiring. Food is one of the love of my life. So desperation calls for desperate measures.

How about exercising while you walk? Here comes fitflops to the rescue.

A very expensive pair of slippers. But it came recommended by a colleague and the price has fallen by half already.

I wore it while walking along orchard road Tangs from Somerset MRT. I felt my lower calf feeling tired and the lower back too and its for 1 hour while shopping. And its bling bling and chio. I wanted to get a pair of birkinstock for the convenience of photoshoot. I think i'm going to wear this now. Provided it doesn't kill me first. Ha!

The marvels of this simple slipper (BELIEVE OR NOT. I CHOSE TO BELIEVE):
- increase leg, calf and gluteal muscle activity
- improve posture
- mimic the gait of barefoot walking but with more muscle load
- improve muscle tone

QUOTE:
:Fitflop sandals were developed in the UK over a two year collaboration between founder Marcia Kilgore and expert biomechmanists Dr David Cook and Darren James from the CENTRE FOR HUMAN PERFORMANCE at London South Bank University. Originally designed to help modern woman squeeze a little more exercise into their increasingly hectic schedules, Fitflop footwear is built with patent-pending muscle-loading microwobbleboard midsole technology so you joust have to put a pair on to get a workout while you walk.

Women simply will do anything to look good on their wedding har? Yar...at least for me.

Fit for the King and Queen - Part 2

I was agonising whether to buy a box spring divan anot? Aside from looking chio, and easy to manage. I can flip the divan over and then slide it across somewhere for spring cleaning.

Its going to cost me an additional S$1,200 (Queen) and additional S$100 for (King).

But look what i found:

A Box Divan without Springs is an evolution of the traditional Box Spring Divan. It was later found that the springs within the box divan doesn’t affect your sleep at no way at all. In fact, you wouldn’t even be able to tell if your mattress is lying on top of a box spring divan or on the floor.

Conclusion
A box spring divan is an outdated, expensive, useless piece of bedroom furniture. Buy a divan without springs.

Happy!

More more more! for people who just into details and internet information:
#Coil counts are just overrated, we should simply ignore them.
#Thickness of mattress is just a ploy to make mattress look comfy in showrooms. No other benefits.
#Box springs, totally unnecessary and waste of money.
#Firm mattress is good for the back – It’s not true, it is a myth.
#Extra Features like Ticking and Quilting, Non-Flip and warrenties are purely marketing gimmicks, don’t even think about it when deciding your purchase.
#mattress manufacturers rename their mattress for different stores so that you can’t compare apple to apple. Thus, they can mark-up the price however they want to, and you can’t compare prices.
#most mattresses manufacturers get their spring from the same company, we should ignore brand names and focus on the actual piece of mattress.

Knowing what these terms mean:
Inner spring -these have wire coils as the support structure and a strong wire border

Pocketed spring – contain individual springs that can move independently according to the irregular shape of the human body. Help to reduce partner disturbance

Memory foam- is made from visco-elastic polyurethane foam and is denser than other foam mattresses, it adapts to the body shape and heat, and springs back into shape when pressure on it is removed

Latex is made out of natural rubber, or can be synthetic. It makes the most comfortable and lasting mattresses that are resistant to dust mites

Coir/jute -made out of natural dried coconut fiber, this type is meant for people with bad backs needing firm mattresses.

Good Luck in your bed shopping!

Fit for the King and Queen

I believe looking for a bed is part and parcel of every wedding prepartion (ok at least for mine). Beds is another BIG BUDGET item.

Over the last weekend, i made a trip down the Furntiture Mall and lay down on a good number of beds. Aside from feeling the firmess of the beds (refer to end of entry for definitions), they are generally beds to me. But my significant other (SO) thinks otherwise and more particular. As such, he say, he will make the ultimate decision. Hrumph...

Armed with a little red book and pen, i took down the pricing. Namely pricing of beds and other nitty details that the sales person dished out. Like the number of coils, type of spring.

After trying alot of beds, (i try to avoid unknown brands), here's some of the shortlisted ones in order of preference.

- Slumberland (Royal Princess)
- Dunopillo ( Ambriosia)
- Simmons (Theodora)

Initially, we thought that we will like a medium firm bed. After trying out that many, we prefer a softer feel with pillow top that envelops us upon lying down.

At moment its a close fight betweeen Slumberland and Dunopillo. Simmons is out of consideration due to the PRICE.

Now i'm trying to look for reviews on after research, it seems like not such a good choice. There is not much information on slumberland as its not big in US. Most reviews came from US and their focus is on Serta, Sealy, Simmons and think kingsdown. That aside, my current research seem to indicate a pillowtop is a not good investment as they tend to SAG!!! Oops!

Benefits
# Both plush and pillowtop offer some similar advantages over basic firm mattresses. For one thing, both offer an added layer of padding and cushioning to the mattress. For people who want a firm mattress but like the feeling of sinking into their mattress, plush and pillowtop are both choices to consider. Another key benefit of both types is that the extra cushioning can absorb some of the movement of a sleeping partner. One big benefit of pillowtop over plush is that pillowtop mattress are the thickest ones available, sometimes a few inches thicker just due to the cushioning of the top layer.

Disadvantages
# A key disadvantage to the pillowtop mattress is that it can not usually be flipped over. Mattresses are flipped to help balance out the wear and tear over the years, but a pillowtop mattress can not be flipped due to the soft and thick top layer interfering with making the mattress level and supported on top of the box spring or frame.

Another disadvantage of the pillowtop design is that the mattress is often thicker than a normal mattress, meaning that standard-size bed sheets may not fit properly over the mattress.

Considerations:
Comfort level
Durability
Price
Firmess
Dust mite resistant
Motion isolation
No initial odour
Sex Friendly (Pardon the language)
Warranty
Flip or non flip

Things to consider while buying FREEBIES.
Pillows?
Boltser?
Mattress Protector?
Frame?
Height of frame? (Personal preference, i hate storage box type of frame because i cannot clean them. Prefer to have at least 6 inches of gap from floor and bed for easier sweeping)

I can't believe even the bed can be a huge headache.

Some terms you wish to know:
1.Ultra Solid- An exceptionally hard mattress comparable to sleeping on a carpet on the floor. Unsuitable for those who have not used it before since you may wake up with an aching body.

2.Super Firm- Recommended by Orthopedic Specialists or people with back problems needing firm support. Considered hard by most users.

3.Medium Firm- The ideal in-between mattress that is neither so hard as to be hurtful, nor too soft. Provides gentle support and meant for all those who do not have any specific firmness preference.

4.Cushion Soft- A soft mattress that provides comfort and support. Meant for those who add feather covers for a softer top.

5.Ultra Plush- The softest mattress, giving the luxurious feeling of supreme comfort.

Wedding Invitations Headache

Whatever that comes free may not be exactly as you want it to be. I thought its something very very minor but now its staring flat back at me in the face.

Not using the hotels standard invites is most definitely going to cost.
:( My ever sane and practical SO tell me that NOBODY is ever going to pay attention to the cards nor keep them. Talking about rubbing salt to the wound.

I really dissappointed with the choice of selection. Particularly, when i am particular about design. Granted i don't have a flair for design but i think my expectations are high. Pulls hair more.

source from missysee

I went down physically to look at the cards and here's are the cards offered at the moment. The ones that are my top choice are the bride and groom invite or the red invite.

The alternative is to choose other cards from another file. With additional charges of course though i'm still unsatisfied with the selection.

I think i've been badly brainwashed by cardblanche and similar card companies. Grrrrrl.

Solitairebride you have to loosen up and close one eye! Or really close both eyes.

Personalised Monogram

A monogram is a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol. Monograms are often made by combining the initials of an individual or a company, used as recognizable symbols or logos.

This is typically very popular in western weddings. Not that much in Singapore. Still i think its something nice to have.

Seriously i'm no photoshop expert. I think the ones i did myself are really not very nice.

The nicer ones are those editable templates from eatdrinkchic.com. These are shown below.

But these are no where near my theme of hollywood glamour. Though it does fit my colour theme of ice blue, red, white and gold. Looks like hollywood glamour doesn't gel with blue very well. I need help!

101 reasons why red, white and aqua is the new black

All the actual weddings i came across while blogging inspired me to chose red and iceblue. And i'm literally drooling over the pretty weddings. I wish i could do more but it'll be unrealistic and i shouldn't have chosen a hotel banquet if i'm doing it all myself anyway. Well, i'll just try my best to incorporate. :D

Immoral Blood suckers

I seriously detest immoral vendors. Yes, we are preparing for the weddings but it doesn't entitle you to rip us off right?

The story goes like this:
I wanted to get a pair of crocheted wedding dolls for placement at the hood of the car. So i contacted this crafter that i know of who does wedding dolls. Her blog goes by JxxxxxTxx. She advised me of the pricing at S$80 for 6" dolls. Pricing is reasonable and acceptable and i asked her to make for me. According to her she's quite tight up at the moment and she will contact me early part of this year.

3 months flew past and no news from her. So i dropped her another email. Guess what she told me, she don't have any available ones (the dolls are supposed to be customised hello!!). And she will make a pair for me that is machine washable and 8" tall. And for her time and materials she will be charging me S$150!!!!

What the F@#$!!!! Granted the dolls she created are cute and nice. But you want to rip me off S$150 because you change your mind from the original quote? I personally feel that its downright immoral.

I pretty certain that you've gone through what i've gone through. And you know pretty well that anything that has a wedding tagged to it, the vendors will like to jacked up the price and yet you're still doing this. I so so DISGUSTED!
