A Malay Wedding at Joyden Hall at Bugis+

Website: http://www.joydenhall.com.sg/
I never realized that there is a separate hall within the shopping centre with facilities available for rent. The location of this place is quite accessible to all and HUGE. There is plenty of room for a reception and seated tables in the hall. In this instance, the reception area is converted for buffet corridor on both sides. There is still plenty of room in the centre for walking. The reception area and main hall is indoor and air-conditioned.
The reception exquisite decor

The main hall area is decorated with the guest tables on both sides, the pelamin at the background and a giant paper cranes centre piece from the very tall ceiling complete with a centre stage. The decoration is tastefully decorated.

Main stage with macarons instead of cake, high ceilings and the hanging paper cranes elogate and highlights the tall ceilings
This is the first malay wedding that i attended and i am most impressed with the food. All the food that i tried are yummy and delicious. And i've eaten more than i intended to.

Sumptuous food display at Malay weddings

All the sisters wear the same ice blue flowy dresses and the brothers ice blue baju melayu. Even the brides parents wear blue malay costumes.

I love the photobooth which allows the guests to access the photos after the event and download it on their own.

This is definitely a very nice and comfortable wedding to attend and a choice location is always an added bonus. Based on my experience at a guest, i will definitely recommend this place to those considering on holding their event here.

A Beach Wedding in Bohol Perhaps?

I chanced upon another wedding while vacationing at Bohol Beach Club. The ambiance as well as the sweet decorations reminds me of the beach wedding i had wished i had.

The splendid sea views makes this place a perfection location for saying your vows by the sea, stars and moon.

The wedding in process
As this is just a private wedding affair, this is as much pictures i could take without intruding. The hut that you can see in the last picture "the wedding in process" is an indoor area with seatings for the guests and where dinner is served. There's plenty of room for dancing after the dinner. From what i can judge, everyone clearly enjoyed the wedding.

What's more at the end of the party, the guests are also treated with a grand fireworks display. So much for ending the night with a BANG!

A real wedding in Cebu (Church ceremony and banquet)

weddings
I recently attended a wedding in Cebu -a church wedding followed by a wedding banquet. I was curious to find that the wedding has plenty of similarities to our Singapore style Chinese wedding in particular the banquet and its sequence. However, my evaluation is probably biased as i understand the bride is of Chinese descent.
weddings

The Cebu wedding surpasses my expectations on several counts, an impressive travel themed decor. It was even more luxurious than our local Singapore hotel's set up. Good range of food served like crabs, fishes ( yes, you read it correct fishes, not one fish), noodles, pork knuckle and the best mantou i ever eaten. The photo booth set up is also much more professional like a corporate set up with a fixed camera station. Live music and singer also entertained us throughout the dinner.

live music that adds the oomph factor

Some of the differences observed are drinks (different types of soft drinks, drink water) are placed on the table for the guests to help themselves. There is however no dinner menu which i can refer. At the end of the banquet, the guests happily took away the wedding decorations either the entire floral table set up or selected flowers types they prefer.

I enjoyed the dinner much more than anticipated and with this positive experience, i am much more open to attending another overseas wedding.

Mini album

I made this cute mini album using our photoshoot photos a while back as i was so into my holy matrimony then. All high and jazzed up.

Its so mini and definitely easy to lug around since its the size of a thumb. The quality of the finishing is good. And what i love about it, is the express service. I got it under 1.5 hrs with no surcharges. Whatever is free is good. And now when i want to reminisce about my wedding, i can whip it out from my handbag and browse. How convenient.

Ambigram

An ambigram is a typographical design or artform that may be read as one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction, or orientation.

My inspration came from chance. I was waiting for time to pass after going to my bridal shop. There are alot of interesting nic nac shops around tanjong pagar if you have the time to explore. To cut the long story short. I saw an ambigram which is a door hanger. Depending on how you hang it. It will spell as Go away or Come in.

So i decided to try my hand on it. And i'm so amazed with the results. This is completed in 30 minutes on a bus ride home. :D

I hope you can read this? ah....don't tell me even if you can't.

Too bad i can't find someone who can engrave it on my ring. (cheaply that is). But i made it into a sticker so i can stick it to anything i want! how cool is that.

How to make life difficult for the bestmen!

This is a super innovative idea by my friend. And i personally think that this is really interesting. Spicy buffalo wings at Sunset Grill.

Its actually a eat out place at singapore flying club. And its super ulu. But you definitely need a car to get in.

Its fun to try. I nearly killed myself trying the super hot wings. The lips just turned red and sore. I couldn't make myself finish that one wing. But i did finish one. And this is only level 3 only. There are like 30 levels to go. Kudos to my friend and boyfriend who took 2 of the wings each.

Downed the wings with Erdinger beer. At least this made the wings bearable. ah yes... i'm a little alcoholic. :D

And the super nice fried mushrooms recommended by my friend who brought us there.

I heard the guys who tried out the level 15 wings on my friends wedding day thinks its not spicy at all (of course la, they peeled off the skin that is mains).

Somehow, my SO is begging to try level 5 chicken wings. Alloz, these wings are not cheap. They come at a hefty price of S$6 per wings (this is for level 15). Price varies as you move up or down the level scale. Sorry, chilli padi for you darling. Mucks.

For those who are really interested to try:

To buy or not to buy the Nu-bra

There are alot of nu-bra in the market. I tried and purchase one some years ago from Metro. It was so long ago and rarely used that i nearly forgotten its existence till i was doing a checklist of things to bring for my photoshoot.

Somehow or rather this is one of the must bring items on a taiwan photoshoot. (according to their websites.) Local bridal shops make no mention of it. I wonder why?

And so i tried on my old nu-bra (and apparently the front clasp fell apart! Gasped!). So i have no choice but to seek a new one.

Next question is where to get one? The one that i purchase actually doesn't work very well. Somehow the bra keep peeling off when the weather is damn hot and of course i sweat. As a girl its feels pretty insecure if your bra keep slipping off right?

To play it safe i finally decide to get the authentic one. At least currently they have a 10% discount.

Located at Bencoolen street, Sunshine plaza #01-38 its quite out of the way.

The red curtain behind is the fitting room. While i was there, there is only one lady tending the shop and she's assisting a young girl with her fitting. This suits me as i can find the time to actually browse and take some pics for my blog.

See the dizzy array of nu-bra. Feather lite and some even for beach wear.

Here's what i came all the way for.

The original nu-bra

And the revamped push up bra.

It costs $40 more too.

So the same lady who was assisting the earlier girl helped me with the selection. First she asked the cup size and then showed me the 2 bras.

Now is the X-rated part. I guess you have to be ready to put aside your inhibitions for this. If you're not ready please don't read further.

Okies here goes:

She asked to me to show her my breasts (shall code name it Mimi for ease of reference). And asked me to wipe them with wet tissues followed by dry ones. She examine mimi critically and promptly tell me i may have gotten my cup size wrong! So she try to place the original size on me and then say she will let me try the bigger cup size one. If i can fit, its going to look better on me.

Thereafter, she kneaded and cupped mimi so that i can look better with the bra. And asked me to compare between the 2 bras. Oh man! i'm one who like to observe and slowly reach a decision.

How to do it when there is one other woman in front of me? Waiting for me to make my decision.

At this point in time, i either tell her calmly i'm not buying the nu-bra or buy it under pressure. This is the hard part for some as you probably feel obligated already. But since i need it and don't have time to source for alternative already. I bought it on the original one on-spot.

I was offered to buy featherlite at a cheaper price of S$28 since i bought the nu-bra. I was asked to buy the nu-bra cleanser as well which i politely declined and asked for a freebie cleaner instead. I was giving a mini mini 3 ml bottle.

So remember to just ask! Who knows you may just be given something.

I tried the nu-bra with my gowns during the final match and fitting. I seem to encounter the same problem with the earlier nu-bra. Drats! Shall share more after my photoshoot.

Edited with solitairebride's comments:
The original nu-bra that i purchase does not give me the cleavage i wanted but it does enhance the body shape and as a result i look more well-endowned.

During the photoshoot, i encounter the similar problem slipping nu-bra problem. The nu-bra does not seem to stick very well at all. It was worse when i went outdoor. But as my gowns are all very fitting, there isn't any risk of the nu-bra falling out.

All in all, i'm still glad i purchased the nu-bra for the extra ommph but it would be better if it can be sticker.

Movie Theme Wedding

I was researching on wedding themes, particularly, movie themes.

Movie themes should be red carpet, gold and glitz.

Not only that it should be a star studded event. With paparazzi.

To complete it, include the tickets for entry.

And also popcorn.

And candies. Lotsa of them!!!

Don't forget the candy girls.

The most important is the movie poster.

That's what makes the wedding more interesting. Woo hoo.

Floral handmade ring flower

Came upon this handmade ring flower that can hold rings. Lemming for it to be my wedding ring holder now.

I love the little attention to details and personalisation (names & dates can be printed). Also, good for a surprise proposal. How i wish my boyfriend did the same!

The unique ring bearer

Rather than a common ring pillow, why not consider using a ring bowl. This can be a celebration plate and a customised ring plate. You can tie with it like a normal ring pillow with ribbons. After the wedding, you can place your jewellery or keys. One item with multiple usage.

Where to buy? Go to Esty and search: ring bowls.

Mannequin Balloons

Life size bride and groom made from balloons.

Table size balloons.

Some ideas i gathered from Park Hotel Wedding Show. A arch made from balloons for the bridal march in.

But i think a mannequin balloons is cuter.
