Life between trips

My banner idea wasn't original but inspired by my friend, Jin , in Austin whom made a DIY banner for her save the date photoshoot. I asked her for the template and got down to working on this about 1 week prior to my photoshoot.  "Ingredients" needed - cupboard paper, patterned paper (I used gift wrap paper as I liked the galaxy print on the gift wrap paper), ribbon, stencils, scissors, hole puncher and bowls. Yup, Bowls were used to create the circle patterns. :) Taking form.... I printed out numbers from patterns found on the internet. Just like the wedding dress, most brides would also pay special attention to their bridal shoes. There are so different types of shoes to choose from but for Trinity Bride, she choose to modify a pair of her cream colored 2.5 inches heels for her actual day. I have this pair of rarely wore heels sitting in my shoe cabinet for almost a year. I thought of wearing it for my wedding day but I found that the flower decoration on the heel actually dropped off.  Removing the flowers off the shoes, I thought they were just perfect for the wedding. I don't usually wear heels on a general day and I don't want to writhe in discomfort in a new pair of heels on my photoshoot and wedding day. To me, comfort is the foremost important thing on such an important event. Plus, the dress is so long, who is going to see my shoes?  I could just leave the shoes as it is but I found a piece of old lace from my mother's stash....Isn't there a saying that says "Somethin...

Happy New Year! How time flies, its now 2011. Its been a busy and hectic time since wedding till now. Scouring through my photos to get them developed. Its important for me to keep the wedding memories and make them meaningful. For me, scrapbooking is the way to go. And i've been trying to improve on my skills. Here's one that've made, photo by my wedding photographer, apple from Hwee Studios.

This is one of my "biggest" project for my wedding. The montages. I made 3 in all. I pretty satisfied with the final outcome. In case, you are wondering. The montages were made using Imovie in Macbook. This little software makes things a lot more easier. All i need to do is choose the songs, input my photos and have a transition effects. And Yay its all done. (Well almost) There always a need of minor tweaking. Though i prefer it to be more fanciful with more effects but well it beyond the capabilities of the software. I love rosettes and lace. Essentially all things pretty and handmade. The materials - 3 yards of blue lace (for 4 lace corsages) - half yard of rosettes - 8 pcs of diamante - 4 pcs of pearls - 4 pcs of swaroski crystalserials How to make the rosette lace corsage: Cut the required lace in even length. I've done alot of samplers. But in the end. This is what i've eventually used on the card. I know how this is going to sound. But it essentially is the initial to our surnames. And it should be read as M.S. I love how the two letters entwine. This is when two becomes one.

An ambigram is a typographical design or artform that may be read as one or more words not only in its form as presented, but also from another viewpoint, direction, or orientation. My inspration came from chance. I was waiting for time to pass after going to my bridal shop. There are alot of interesting nic nac shops around tanjong pagar if you have the time to explore. To cut the long story short. I saw an ambigram which is a door hanger. Depending on how you hang it. It will spell as Go away or Come in . So i decided to try my hand on it. And i'm so amazed with the results. This is completed in 30 minutes on a bus ride home. :D I hope you can read this? ah....don't tell me even if you can't. Too bad i can't find someone who can engrave it on my ring. (cheaply that is). But i made it into a sticker so i can stick it to anything i want! how cool is that.

This is the refurbishing. All you need is love and creativity. I'm loving it. The living room is totally IKEA. My SO wants fresh flowers. I hope it will not be there till its dried and sad

Yups its the crochetted dolls again. Don't i ever get bored? This is real simple and i'm so glad it works as well as i envisioned. Normally, it really takes forever before i get something that is at least satisfactory. I'm doing this so my pretty dolls can be placed nicely on my bedside table. Materials needed: - the crochetted dolls - rub it ons - paint (leftover from home painting) - oval plaque - Glue First, i rub on the text on the oval plaque that was already painted and dried. Embellish where necessary. I added a red heart. The final product.

All you need to do to an old house is a little sprucing up. Room makeover Before This room is rented out and now will be our wedding room temporarily until our house it completed. After Living room makeover Before After A coat of paint is all it needs to give everything a new lease of life. If you really really wish to save, the best way is to do it yourself. That's what we did. Its a lot of hard work, sweat and toil. Me being the girl gets to ya ya. The men did all the difficult part. And i got a beautiful house. A little more furnishing is all it needs to make this house perfect.

This is my first 12 x 12 layout for this year. Inspired by all the scrapbook works that we purchased for our colleagues. I decided to give it a go (after encouragement from SO). He says that i can do it as well as those people who sell their works online. Beams I'm quite satisfied with the overall effect. This is the work after seeking some comments and improvement. Time to pick up speed and do things for my wedding. Else it will be a mayhem closer to my wedding. Here is some do-it-yourself roses that i was doing. And hoping to incorporate in the wedding. Yes. I've got a weakness for roses, ribbons and butterflies. Here's the rose that i was testing out. Looks like the size is just right for what i planned. The trick is to keep to the same width so the rose will be nice. A thinner width as you cut will give you a flatter rose too. Please see the tutorial here I did a crepe rose earlier if you prefer something else.

I did a 2nd set of wedding dolls. This time it took much much longer (4 months) than the first set . Practise does make perfect. at least, i can do the hair portion much better now. This pair of dolls are the wearing the chinese costumes. The typical dressing in a chinese wedding. Wedding gown and kua combination. Here's a quick tutorial for brides who are interested in make it themselves. The parts to be be sewed together. (head, hair, 2 arms. for the groom additional 2 feet) First sew the hair together. Followed by the head with the torso. Attached the arms and legs. The end product. The sakura with paper flowers. The grooms red cai qiu. The back of the dolls. Cute right? Smucks! A long good kiss.
