I started my first free and easy trip on 2007. This is quite an impromptu trip. I remembered that my sis was flying back from USA and will transit in Taiwan. Neither of us had ever been to Taiwan and i was feeling the need to get away from work. Within a day i booked the flight and started planning for the trip. Truth be told, i was pretty noob then and my sis was primary planner. I was more then happy to let my sis do all the planning.

It was quite a fun experience and i told myself that i must return to Taiwan soon but it took another 6 years before i revisited Taiwan again.

From then on, all my trips are free and easy. I like the fact that i can do only things that i want. I can choose to stay longer or visit the place of interest instead of just obligatory pictures at the locations. I remember being peeved while i was in a tour group to Europe and we are only given 5 mins for photos at the Colosseum. Yes, no visiting photos only! And it was a few hours coach ride there too!

Tours usually require tour members to wake up at 5 or 6 am to take the coach. For free and easy, i normally wake up at 7.30 am, have a relaxing breakfast and then head out for the day. But of course, expect detours and delays for free and easy. The plan is normally not perfect and also very dependent on weather conditions. So far our trips are 95% true our original plan. I pride myself in very detailed planning but still not without hiccups. But being 2 mature relatively young adults, we can choose to delay our lunch hour to late (like 3 or 4 pm) and still feel fine. But with a bigger and more complicated family, there will be other considerations you may have to consider.

Free and easy works out great for me as i can go for long hikes, do shopping as i like to, sip wine and enjoy the views. Its 100% all about me! But in order to do all that you need to be able to drive long distances. Ok some trips don't need driving like my 2010 trip to Switzerland and France. We took public transport (trains and metro) and lug our bags from place to place. Most importantly, is enjoy the moment and enjoy the trip.

That's what travel is all about right?

Kyushu Round Island in 14 days Itinerary

Planned itinerary for Fukuoka in 12 Nov 2023 to 26 Nov 2023 . The pace for the trip is deliberately more relaxed compared to my other trip...
