Exploring Osaka: Kuchu Teien Observatory, Namba Yasaka Jinja, and the Iconic Glico Man

Osaka is a city that seamlessly blends modernity with tradition, offering visitors a unique experience at every turn. Here are three must-visit spots that showcase the diverse charm of this vibrant city.

DO: Namba Yasaka Jinja
2-9-19 Motomachi, Naniwa Ward, Osaka, 556-0016, Japan

Tucked away just a short walk from Namba Station, Namba Yasaka Jinja is a hidden gem in the heart of Osaka. The shrine is best known for its massive lion head-shaped stage, which stands 12 meters tall and 11 meters wide. Said to swallow evil spirits and bring good fortune, the lion head is both striking and symbolic. For us, it was a quick photo stop—but a memorable one. The unique architecture and peaceful atmosphere made it a worthwhile detour on a rainy day, even if just for a few minutes.

  • DO: Kuchu Teien Observatory

Umeda Sky Building, 1-1-88 ÅŒyodonaka, Kita Ward, Osaka, 531-6023, Japan

Perched atop the Umeda Sky Building, the Kuchu Teien Observatory is one of Osaka’s most popular observation decks—and for good reason.

Expect a queue, especially during peak hours, but the wait is absolutely worth it. The observatory offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city, and the building itself is a marvel of modern architecture.

Suspended between two towers, the open-air deck lets you feel the breeze as you take in the panoramic skyline and the reflective building makes for a pretty sight from near and far.

  • DO: The Glico Man

1-10-2 Dotonbori, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0071, Japan

No visit to Osaka is complete without seeing the iconic Glico Man. Located in the vibrant Dotonbori district, this brightly lit billboard features a runner crossing the finish line with arms raised in victory.

The Glico Man has been a symbol of Osaka since 1935 and is a must-see for anyone visiting the city. The area around the sign is always buzzing with energy, making it a great spot to experience the lively nightlife. Don’t forget to strike a pose mimicking the Glico Man for that classic Osaka photo!

Kose Beauty Centre Facial Review (Isetan Scotts)

I was very very taken aback when i entered the unassuming beauty salon right in the heart of orchard. While the place is clean and design is simple, it was very sparsely furnished considering its brand name and in comparision with Yamano (the other japanese salon i went).  I entered the facial premises after i passed through the hair salon. What greeted me makes my jaw dropped even more, the room is bare. There is no wall partitions for privacy, in its place are curtains hung to separate the different beds. And i am able to see all the facial therapist and guests. Each therapist handles 2 guests both at the same time!!! From My session suppose to start at 3 pm since my therapist is also handling another customer, i whipped out my phone and start playing candy crush till my therapist is available at 3.30pm. The therapist started by cleaning my face and recommending the appropriate therapy for my skin. I was advised to do the  Whitening & Anti-ageing Treatment an...

Wedding solemnisation at Chijmes - Review

Having a romantic church wedding is the dream of every girl, myself included. But unless you're a christian, its almost impossible to hold your wedding solemnisation at a church.  In japan, the church wedding concept is very prevalent and it comes at a price. One such place is Hotel Monterey Kyoto with a "church" extension that can fulfill a bride-to-be dream church wedding. So if we love to hold a wedding at a chapel in Singapore, Chijmes is the place to go. Chijmes is a beautifully structure historic building complex in Singapore that has been gazetted as a national monumnet. It once housed a Catholic convent school known as the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) and their convent quarters known as Caldwell House. It has been restored for commercial purposes, such as shopping, dining and an entertainment centre. Here is the views of the former church decorated as a solemnisation venue. For solemnisation, the 2 aisles will serve as the d...
