Super Hotel Matsumoto Ekimae — Comfortable Stay with Fun Evening Perks

During our stay in Matsumoto, we chose Super Hotel Matsumoto Ekimae スーパーホテル松本駅前 a practical hotel located just a few minutes' walk from Matsumoto Station. We weren't looking for anything luxurious — just a clean, comfortable place for the night before continuing our journey. In that respect, the hotel delivered exactly what we needed.



Excellent Location

One of the biggest advantages of this hotel is its location.

Being close to Matsumoto Station made it easy to:

  • Walk to nearby restaurants and convenience stores
  • Explore the city centre
  • Leave early the next morning without any hassle

Although we were driving, having everything within walking distance was still very convenient.

Parking

The hotel parking is chargeable, but this wasn't an issue for us.

The parking area is shared among several hotels in the vicinity, and despite arriving by car, we had no difficulty finding a lot. Considering how convenient the location is near Matsumoto Station, I thought the parking arrangement worked quite well.

Welcome Drinks & Wine Bar

One of the highlights of the stay was the complimentary welcome drinks and evening wine bar available until 9 pm.

Naturally, I had to try a little of everything.



There was a good selection of sake and other alcoholic beverages available. Most of the sake served was surprisingly easy to drink, even for someone who doesn't regularly drink sake.

The most memorable drink was probably the sweet potato wine. Unfortunately, memorable doesn't always mean good. It had a rather unusual taste that wasn't quite for me, but I'm glad I tried it anyway. The other drinks were much more enjoyable and made for a relaxing evening after a day of travelling.

The Room

ALike many Japanese business hotels, the room wasn't huge, but it was clean, comfortable and efficiently designed.

One thing I really liked was the choice of additional pillows available at the lobby. Guests can select a pillow that suits their preferred firmness and height, which is a nice feature that not many hotels offer.

As for our room, we were assigned a bunk bed setup, which I actually enjoyed more than expected. It felt a little different from the typical hotel room and added a fun element to the stay. The bed was comfortable and we slept well.

Amenities

The hotel provides a variety of individual amenity packets for guests to pick up from the lobby.

My favourite was definitely the face mask. After spending long days outdoors and travelling, it was a nice little treat before bed.

It's a small touch, but one that made the stay feel more thoughtful.

Final Thoughts

Super Hotel Matsumoto Ekimae isn't a luxury hotel, but it offers excellent value and a comfortable stay.

What stood out to me were the thoughtful extras:

  • Complimentary evening drinks and sake bar
  • Selection of amenities
  • Choice of pillows
  • Convenient parking arrangement

Combined with its location and comfortable rooms, it was an easy and enjoyable place to stay in Matsumoto.

Kose Beauty Centre Facial Review (Isetan Scotts)

I was very very taken aback when i entered the unassuming beauty salon right in the heart of orchard. While the place is clean and design is simple, it was very sparsely furnished considering its brand name and in comparision with Yamano (the other japanese salon i went).  I entered the facial premises after i passed through the hair salon. What greeted me makes my jaw dropped even more, the room is bare. There is no wall partitions for privacy, in its place are curtains hung to separate the different beds. And i am able to see all the facial therapist and guests. Each therapist handles 2 guests both at the same time!!! Its been a while since i blogged about something related to beauty. I've been rather constant with my hair stylist as i've become less adventurous with age. I did switch hair salons to seek a change in my looks but have failed miserably to look super stylo.
