Usuki Stone Buddhas - serene and tranquil

The Usuki stone buddhas have been designated as a national treasure.

More than 60 figures were carved in rock face created by hardened volcanic ash and molten rock that erupted from Mt. Aso (Kumamoto Prefecture) approximately 90,000 years ago.

It is believed they are created in Heian (794 -1185) and Kamakura (1185-1333) periods.

We arrived here quite late and its an hour before closing time.

This area has some easy walk that does not require any stair climbing. Just some gentle slopes.

The area is divided into 11 zones with 1 to 4 being the main cluster (i think! 😅).

Hoki 1st and 2nd cluster (Jizo and the ten kings, 3 kongokai dainichi, shaka nyorai and amida nyorai statues, 3 amida nyorai and shaka nyorai)

Sa no san sekibutsu (a large center statue with 2 attendants)

Furuzono sekibutsu (finest stone buddha statue in japan and famous worldwide - elegant face with prominent eyebrows, almond shaped eyes and light red mouth creating a impression of buddha warm heartedness)

We manage to see what we wanted (the 4 main cluster zones) and left for our hotel for the day.

I wanted to get weeks about it I purchased this item from Tangs at SGD $399. They are having a promotion of discount SGD $50 if you spend SGD $500. One of the rare oven with no microwave function. I am ok with it as i steam fishes regularly and its a perfect addition of appliance. I was very very taken aback when i entered the unassuming beauty salon right in the heart of orchard. While the place is clean and design is simple, it was very sparsely furnished considering its brand name and in comparision with Yamano (the other japanese salon i went). There is no wall partitions for privacy, in its place are curtains hung to separate the different beds. And i am able to see all the facial therapist and guests. Banquet -Parkroyal beach road (Wedding dinner review)

I attended a wedding in October 2013 at the Parkroyal beach road. Boy! I was in for a surprise. The hotel is newly renovated and refurbished to a very corporate and clean polished look. There is a huge area for reception. Even the exterior area is also revamped (i didn't manage to get pictures for outdoors). You can hold your ROM outdoors and have decorated to an outdoor garden setting. Yes the outdoor area is that huge! This place has changed so dramatically.
