STAY: Osaka: Park front hotel at Universal Studio
If you're planning a trip to Universal Studios Japan (USJ) and want to stay as close to the action as possible, the Park Front Hotel is the most convenient option - literally steps from the park entrance. But while the location is unbeatable, the overall experience may not live up to the hype for everyone. The main lobby is a vibrant, theme park inspired atmosphere with art deco interior design
The location is where the hotel truly shines. Being right in front of USJ means you can stroll into the park the next morning without the stress of transport. We really appreciate the convenience, especially after a long day of walking.
The rooms here reminded me of Resorts World Sentosa - grand in concept but not quite polished in execution. The room we had feels a little tired and in need of maintenance.
Though we had a comfortable bed and plenty of space which was a pleasant surprise.
The furnishings are quite standard - functional but nothing memorable. It felt more like a mid-range business hotel than a theme resort.
We stayed in the hotel the night before and check out in the morning. The check in and check out were smooth and the staff were polite and efficient with English speaking personnel available. Upon check out, we are able to conveniently leave our luggage at the lobby for pick up at night.
Day 8:
Super Nintendo world: A recent addition, this vibrant area is a dream come true for fans of Nintendo. With attractions like Mario Kart: Koopa's Challenge and Yoshi's Adventure, it offers visually stunning experiences. Although i much prefer Koopa's challenge than Yoshi's Adventure which is a simple ride around the grounds of Nintendo world.
- DO: Game on at Universal Studio
Universal Studio Japan (USJ) in Osaka is a top-tier destination for thrill seekers, families and fans of popular culture.
Highlights:
The wizarding world of Harry Potter: This immersive area brings the magic of Harry Potter to life with meticulously detailed environments, thrilling rides like Harry potter and the forbidden journey and interactive experiences such as wand selection at Ollivanders. However it can be less fun when you miss out of the activities due to the forever long queues.

Minion Park: Perfect for families, this area is filled with fun rides and attractions themed around the lovable Minions from the Despicable Me franchise.
The Flying Dinosaur: For adrenaline junkies, this roller coaster is a must ride and also my very first ride. Its so exciting and thrilling with its intense drops and inversions.
There is also a special seasonal Demon Slayer ride which we did not have an express pass for and had to queue for 150 minutes. Fortunately, every one does their part in patiently waiting in the line and the wait time is well worth it.
Tip 1: Express pass is a definite must: One of the best decisions you can make is to purchase an express pass. This pass significantly reduces the wait times for popular rides, which can otherwise be daunting. For instance, the Flying Dinosaur and the Hollwood dream rides have wait times of 120 minutes. With the Express pass 7, these wait times are reduced to 30 minutes or less, allowing you to enjoy more rides in less time.
Downside is while we did 7 + 1 rides, we missed out on most of the shows.
My most enjoyable ride were the flying dinosaur, harry potter and forbidden journey and demon slayer ride.
Tip 2: Buy the tickets 2 months in advance. i was checking out the website every other day for the release days and be flexi in case your preferred date is full.
And of course, i must get back the super star popcorn bucket.
- EAT: Breakfast in-room, Lunch at Universal Studio, Dinner at Inaba Wako in Universal City Wako Building
Lunch at USJ is also difficult as restaurants need advance booking as well. Luckily there are kiosks that serves quick and easy bites. Though the queue times are horrendous as well. The pizza was much better than expected and lunch is still nice and hot.
