Osaka is a city that seamlessly blends modernity with tradition, offering visitors a unique experience at every turn. Here are three must-visit spots that showcase the diverse charm of this vibrant city.
Tucked away just a short walk from Namba Station, Namba Yasaka Jinja is a hidden gem in the heart of Osaka. The shrine is best known for its massive lion head-shaped stage, which stands 12 meters tall and 11 meters wide. Said to swallow evil spirits and bring good fortune, the lion head is both striking and symbolic. For us, it was a quick photo stop—but a memorable one. The unique architecture and peaceful atmosphere made it a worthwhile detour on a rainy day, even if just for a few minutes.

- DO: Kuchu Teien Observatory
Umeda Sky Building, 1-1-88 ÅŒyodonaka, Kita Ward, Osaka,
531-6023, Japan
Perched atop the Umeda Sky Building, the Kuchu Teien
Observatory is one of Osaka’s most popular observation decks—and for good
reason.
Expect a queue,
especially during peak hours, but the wait is absolutely worth it. The
observatory offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city, and the building
itself is a marvel of modern architecture.
Suspended between two towers, the open-air deck lets you
feel the breeze as you take in the panoramic skyline and the reflective
building makes for a pretty sight from near and far.
- DO: The Glico Man
1-10-2 Dotonbori, Chuo Ward, Osaka, 542-0071, Japan
No visit to Osaka is complete without seeing the iconic Glico Man. Located in the vibrant Dotonbori district, this brightly lit billboard features a runner crossing the finish line with arms raised in victory.
The
Glico Man has been a symbol of Osaka since 1935 and is a must-see for anyone
visiting the city. The area around the sign is always buzzing with energy,
making it a great spot to experience the lively nightlife. Don’t forget to
strike a pose mimicking the Glico Man for that classic Osaka photo!
